Frequency: The overhead tank has to clean fortnightly basis.

Cleaning procedure:

1. Drain off the water inside the tank in such away that the water sufficient for cleaning will be inside the tank itself

2. Take some quantity of the water from the tank and add detergent to it

3. Add the prepared detergent solution in to the tank and allow to stand for 10 min

4. Scrub the inner surfaces of the tank with scrubber if necessary

5. Drain off the water

6. Dissolve 10 grams of Kmno4 in 10 liters of water

7. Pour this solution inside the tank and allow to stand for one hour

8. Within the period of one hour the aerobic bacteria (if any present on the inner surface of the tank they will be oxidized)

9. Drain off the Kmno4 completely

10. Rinse the tank with raw water till the washing is colourless.

11. Wash the tank with hot DM water

12. Rinse finally the tank with hot DM water
