Purpose: To lay down operating procedure for the cleaning of Compression Machine.
Scope: This procedure is applicable for
Responsibility: Production Chemist
To supervise the activity
Pre-operating Check: Check no material or residue should be there.
Frequency: Complete wet cleaning for different product each time after use and Dry cleaning at
the end of the shift and for the same product.
Equipment used: Compression machine
Wet cleaning procedure:
1. Ensure that the Main Switch is OFF
2. Remove Hopper and feed frame from the Machine.
3. Remove the punches from the turret by rotating the wheel manually, one at a time.
4. Clean punches with IPA and then clean with rust preventive oil.
5. Do not group together the punches for cleaning in one lot.
6. While removing punches, ensure that the cup edges do not touch the edges of other punches or
with the pressure turret.
7. Remove carefully the dies from the turret and clean it first with IPA and then rust preventive
oil. Put the dies in the box as set.
8. Clean thoroughly the holes of turret and other parts of the M/c with IPA.
9. If the same set is to be used reassemble the set on the turret.
10. Set the upper punches and dies simultaneously followed by the lower punches.
11. Set the lower punches by matching the tip with the die cavity; this will be helpful if the
tablets to be compress are of irregular shape i.e. other than circular.
14. Clean the feed frame and hopper with purified water followed by IPA.
15. Clean the surrounding area of compression machine.
16. Mention the entire activities in Daily Log Sheet
Dry cleaning procedure:
1. Remove the powder materials from compression machine. Clean the surrounding area of compression machine.
