About this training model

This is an interactive engineering teaching model of a general ZP17-style press. It is not manufacturer CAD, a validated digital twin, an operating SOP, or a prediction of a formulation’s behavior.

  • 17 stations; one tablet per station per revolution; one main compression zone. Ideal output excludes rejects, downtime and incomplete filling.
  • Demonstration controls: 1–40 RPM, retained fill depth 4–12 mm, force 5–60 kN and nominal thickness 1.5–3.5 mm. These ranges are simulated, not ZP17 operating limits.
  • Round, flat-faced 10 mm tooling and constant apparent bulk density 0.50 mg/mm³. Estimated retained mass = Ï€ × (10/2)² × retained fill depth × density. Assumes complete, uniform filling; target weight is a reference only.
  • Maximum filling depth is retained depth + 2 mm in this demonstration. Cam curves, stage angles, tooling scale and clearances are schematic and exaggerated to reveal motion. A gravity feed shoe is modeled; feeders and precompression provisions vary.
  • Force and thickness may be adjusted separately to explore geometry and indicators. No constitutive material law is fitted. Force does not automatically predict hardness, and tablet strength, elastic recovery and defect risk are not calculated.
  • Nominal pressure = force / flat punch-tip area. Roller rotation is illustrative. The selected station is observed in steady state; resetting is a teaching reset, not a production startup sequence.
  • Round punches shown do not need a key. A ghost key in Tooling view explains optional anti-rotation tooling for appropriate shaped/embossed designs. HMI and enclosure are representative.
