1.0  OBJECTIVE:

1.1   To lay down the procedure for Cleaning and Operation of Portable IR Thermometer.

2.0  SCOPE:

2.1   This SOP is applicable for Cleaning and Operation of Portable IR Thermometer in General Block.

3.0  RESPONSIBILITY:

5.0  PROCEDURE:

5.1  CLEANING

5.1.1  After every use clean the portable IR thermometer by using dry lint free cloth.

5.2  OPERATION:

5.2.1  °C/°F and Battery: Pull open the unit’s handle using the finger indents near the trigger to access the C/F switch or to insert/remove the battery. To toggle between °C and °F, push the switch. Insert the 9 volt battery into the battery compartment.

5.2.2  To measure a temperature, point gun LASER at object and pull the trigger. Temperature reading will display in C/F.

5.2.3  The backlit LCD displays the current temperature in Celsius or Fahrenheit. The unit will hold the reading for 7 seconds after trigger is released; the word HOLD appears.

5.2.4  The presence of the battery icon indicates a low battery.

5.2.5  Portable IR thermometer is used when even temperature probe is not feasible to use or if required.

5.3  PRECAUTIONS:

5.3.1  Not recommended for use in measuring shiny or polished metal surfaces (stainless steel, aluminum, etc.).

5.3.2  The unit cannot measure through transparent surfaces such as glass. It will measure the surface temperature of the glass instead.

5.3.3  Steam, dust, smoke, etc., can prevent accurate measurement by obstructing the unit’s optics.

5.3.4  Do not aim the LASER into the eyes.
