1.0 OBJECTIVE:

To lay down a procedure for maintenance or cleaning of pharmaceutical industry on monthly basis if any required.

2.0 SCOPE:

This is applicable to the general area, and all the departments of different areas where maintenance or cleaning will be required on monthly basis like manufacturing, processing, packing, storage areas, quality control or quality assurance areas.

3.0 RESPONSIBILITY:

3.1 Checking: Sanitary supervisor.

3.2 Doing: Sweepers/ helpers/ electricians/ other technicians.

4.0 ACCOUNTABILITY:

4.1 Head of departments/ Managers/ Executives/ Plant managers.

5.0 MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT:

5.1 Cleaning agents or disinfectants.

5.2 Clean cloth (non-shedding).

5.3 Dusting pad.

5.4 Other equipments or materials as required accordingly in maintaining the facilities.

6.0 PROCEDURE:

6.1 PRECAUTIONS:

6.1.1 Routine inspection of the facilities should be recorded and maintained on monthly basis or as urgently required.

6.1.2 Identified deficiencies should be rectified immediately.

6.1.3 The facility must be maintained in a state of good repair.

6.2 CLEANING FACILITES:

6.2.1 Equipments or machines cleaning.

6.2.2 Cleaning of shelves and cabins.

6.2.3 Draws under the working tables.

6.2.4 Switches.

6.2.5 Furniture.

6.3 OTHER FACILITIES: 

6.3.1 Spoilage of plaster.

6.3.2 Peeling off of paints.

6.3.3 Leakages from ceiling or other surfaces.

6.3.4 Leakages from pipe lines or waters, steam, gases, etc.

6.3.5 Plumbing problems.

6.3.6 Loose or broken tiles.

6.3.7 Improper closing of doors, windows.

6.3.8 Improper electrical wiring.

6.3.9 Improper electrical fittings/ fixtures.

6.3.10 Missing tube lights etc.

6.4 METHOD:

6.4.1 Wash the shelves with proper cleaning agents or 10% detergent solution as followed by water.

6.4.2 Clean the table with 10% detergent solution as followed by water.

6.4.3 Remove any spot or stains with methanol. (Wear safety hand gloves while handling methanol).

6.4.4 Drawers under the working tables must be clean with dry cotton cloth.

6.4.5 Switches and furniture must be clean with dry cotton cloth.

6.4.6 Equipments and machines are switched off.

6.4.7 Remove all the material from the equipment and clean it with lint free cloth by using disinfectant or as per SOPs.

6.4.8 After complete drying of the equipments are again switched on as per SOPs and can be used for further use.

6.4.9 The monthly cleaning record as per annexure of each department should be recorded.

6.4.10 Check a detailed check list of facilities, which was prepared for the points to be looked into at the end of the month for repairment or maintenance.

6.4.11 Start working on the maintenance as per requirement.

6.4.12 Maintain the record of all the facilities after rectification.
