Preparation of Aluminium Seals for omnipen and Penidure Injections.

PROCEDURE:

1. Sterilize Aluminium Seals in one day advance of filling keeping specified temperature and duration. Note: (Golden seals for omnipen Injections and silver seals for Penidure Injectables. And Red for wymox).
2. Aluminium Seals are to be sterilized in ETC Steam Sterilizer alongwith plugs.(A) WASHING OF ALUMINIUM SEALS:
3. Wash 5000 seals in plastic basket with running hot tap water.
4. Transfer to Stainless Steel perforated trays.
5. Repeat above steps until desired quantity (17,000 – 21,000) is washed.
6. Before loading the stuff to Sterilizer get it checked by Supervisor.

STERILIZATION OF ALUMINIUM SEALS

EQUIPMETNS:                  ETC Steam Sterilizer
STERILIZATION TEMPERATURE: 126ºC ± 4ºC (260 ºF)
STERILIZATION STEAM PRESSURE: 22 Psi ± 2 Psi.

(A) STERILIZATION STEAM PRESSURE ………CONTD

TIME 3 Hrs (1 Hr Sterilization + 2 – 2.5 Hrs drying).

(If seals are wet after ETC dry cycle then ½ hour drying in oven at 140ºC).

1. Load Stainless Steel trays containing seals in steam sterilizer.
2. Place a chemical indicator in one of the Trays of sale after writing date and name of the item.
3. Unload Seals after Sterilization cycle is complete and keep separately in Dryer Room.
4. During Sterilization and drying cycle check the chamber (22 ± 2 Psi) and Jacket pressure and keep the reocrd in Autoclave Sterilization log book.
5. Check colour of chemical indicator after sterilization cycle it must be up to safe zone.

(B)  UNIFORM, SURGICAL GLOVES AND DUSTERS:

1. Wrap clean uniform, surgical gloves and dusters in butter paper with masking tape.
2. Insert chemical indicator (THERMOLOG) in any one packs of uniform.
3. Loose wrapping will facilitate the penetration of steam during sterilization.
4. Load description and configuration is presented in the attached Annexure.
5. After sterilization, take out the uniform, gloves and duster in dryer room and then store in S.S cabinet in buffer room.
6. Check colour of chemical indicator. It must be upto safe zone.
