Sodium Hydroxide Solution Reagent Preparation SOP


Title: Standard operating procedure of Sodium Hydroxide Solution.
1.0  OBJECTIVE:
To lay down the procedure of Sodium Hydroxide Solution for Laboratory use.
2.0  SCOPE:
This shall be applicable to the Quality Control Laboratory.
3.0  RESPONSIBILITY:
3.1  Q.C Pharmacist.
4.0  ACCOUNTABILITY:
4.1  Manager-Quality Control.
4.2  Head of the Q.C Department.
5.0  MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT:
5.1  Glassware (one 100.0ml beaker, one stirrer, one pipette).
5.2  Magnetic stirrer.
5.3  20.0g of Sodium Hydroxide.
5.4  Purified water q.s.
6.0  PROCEDURE:
6.1  Accurately weigh 20.0g of Sodium Hydroxide, by using weighing balance.
6.2  Take a beaker of 100.0ml.
6.3  Add 20.0g of Sodium Hydroxide in it.
6.4  Add sufficient quantity of purified water, by using magnetic stirrer.
6.5  And dilute it to 100.0ml with purified water.
6.6  Verify the concentration by titration with 1M hydrochloric acid using methyl orange solution R as an indicator.
6.7  Set the titration apparatus.
6.8  And adjust if necessary to 200g/l.
