Phenol red solution Reagent Preparation SOP


Title: Standard operating procedure of Phenol red solution.
1.0  OBJECTIVE:
To lay down the procedure of Phenol red solution for Laboratory use.
2.0  SCOPE:
This shall be applicable to the Quality Control Laboratory.
3.0  RESPONSIBILITY:
3.1  Q.C Pharmacist.
4.0  ACCOUNTABILITY:
4.1  Manager-Quality Control.
4.2  Head of the Q.C Department.
5.0  MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT:
5.1  Glassware (one 100.0ml beaker, one stirrer, one pipette).
5.2  Magnetic stirrer.
5.3  0.1g of Phenol red R.
5.4  2.82ml of 0.1M sodium hydroxide.
5.5  20.0ml of alcohol R.
5.6  Purified water q.s.
6.0  PROCEDURE:
6.1  Take a beaker of 100.0ml.
6.2  Add 0.1g of Phenol red R in a mixture of 2.82ml of 0.1M sodium hydroxide and 20.0ml of alcohol R in it.
6.3  Mix it by using magnetic stirrer.
6.4  And dilute it to 100.0ml with purified water R.
