Bromocresol Green Solution Reagent Preparation SOP

Title: Standard operating procedure of Bromocresol green solution preparation for laboratory use.


1.0  OBJECTIVE:
To lay down the procedure of Bromocresol green solution for Laboratory use.
2.0  SCOPE:
This shall be applicable to the Quality Control Laboratory.
3.0  RESPONSIBILITY:
3.1  Q.C Analyst.
4.0  ACCOUNTABILITY:
4.1  Manager-Quality Control.
4.2  Head of the Q.C Department.
5.0  MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT:
5.1  Glassware (one 100.0ml beaker and one 50.0ml beaker, 1 stirrer, 10.0ml pipette).
5.2  Analytical weighing balance.
5.3  50.0mg of bromocresol green.
5.4  0.72ml of 0.1M sodium hydroxide.
5.5  20.0ml of alcohol (ethanol).
5.6  Purified water (q.s).
6.0  PROCEDURE:
6.1  Firstly weigh 50.0mg of bromocresol green, 0.028g of sodium hydroxide by using analytical weighing balance according to SOP.
6.2  Prepare 0.1M of sodium hydroxide solution (prepare 5.0ml according to need).
Take a beaker of 50.0ml and add 0.028g of sodium hydroxide in it and dissolve it in 5.0ml of purified water to make 0.1M of sodium hydroxide solution.
6.3  Take a beaker of 100.0ml and add 50.0mg of bromocresol green in it.
6.4  Also add 0.72ml of 0.1M sodium hydroxide and 20.0ml of alcohol by using pipette.
6.5  Dissolve it thoroughly.
6.6  And dilute it to 100.0ml of purified water.
