Ammonium Molybdate Reagent Preparation SOP


Title:Standard operating procedure of Ammonium molybdate reagent preparation for laboratory use.



1.0  OBJECTIVE:
To lay down the procedure of Ammonium molybdate reagentfor Laboratory use.
2.0  SCOPE:
This shall be applicable to the Quality Control Laboratory.
3.0  RESPONSIBILITY:
3.1  Q.C Analyst.
4.0  ACCOUNTABILITY:
4.1  Manager-Quality Control.
4.2  Head of the Q.C Department.
5.0  MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT:
5.1  Glassware (one 1000.0ml& four 100.0ml beakers, one stirrer, one 10.0ml pipette).
5.2  Analytical weighing balance.
5.3  Magnetic stirrer.
5.4  2.5g of Ammonium molybdate.
5.5  10.0g of ascorbic acid.
5.6  29.45g of sulfuric acid.
5.7  Purified water (q.s).
6.0  PROCEDURE:
6.1  Firstly weigh all the ingredients by using analytical weighing balance operate according to SOP.
6.2  Prepare each solution separately in beaker accordingly.
6.2.1        2.5g/100ml solution of ammonium molybdate. (1 volume)
6.2.2        10g/100ml solution of ascorbic acid.(1 volume)
6.2.3        29.45g/100ml of sulphuric acid.(1 volume)
6.3  Take 1000.0ml of beaker and mix the prepared solutions in given order:
1 volume of 2.5g/100ml solution of ammonium molybdate, 1 volume of 10g/100ml solution of ascorbic acid & 1 volume of sulphuric acid.
6.4  Mix it by using stirrer.
6.5  Add 2 volumes of water (approx. 200.0ml).
6.6  Again mix it thoroughly by using magnetic stirrer.
