1.1.  To lay down a procedure for storage & handling of inflammable..

2.1  This shall be applicable in storage area of the pharmaceutical industry.

3.1       Primary: Store officer.
3.2       Secondary: Q.A. In-charge/ Store In-charge.

5.0      PROCEDURE:

5.1       Storage area of such inflammable solvents should be away from  main building of plant & warehouse with lock & key arrangement. There should be restricted entry in this area.
5.2       Inflammable solvents store should be well ventilated. The area must be equipped with latest & approved fire extinguisher system.
5.3       Ensure that the earthling system provide in the inflammable solvents stores is proper and each & every drum and pump is covered by earthling connection.
5.4       Unload the material by deduction of drums & checking for weight take the drums to inflammable solvent storage area.
5.5       While unloading of inflammable solvents ensure that there is no leakage & damage in drums.
5.6       While unloading or during storage, if leakage of damage observed, shift the solvent in other empty drum with help of pneumatic pressure pump. Empty drum must have been used previously for the same solvent. Ensure that earthling connecting has been attached to the leak drum.
5.7       While issue use FIFO system.
5.8       Use protective equipments i.e. rubber gloves, spectacle, transparent facemask, etc.
5.9       While opening the lid, unscrew it slowly so as to let the air/ vapors pass out.
5.10     Ensure earthling connection to the pump. Put SS pneumatic pump inside of the drum. Switch on air pressure. Start pneumatic pump. Dispense the required quantity of solvent in 25 liter GI drums. Close the knob of pressurized air.
5.11     Put the lid on drum. Close it tightly. Mark the drum as “LOOSE” for identification.
5.12     Switch off lights. Lock the inflammable solvent storage room.
5.13     Put the filled 25 liter drums in a carrier trolley & carry to air lock of coating area in properly closed condition.
