Sieve Shaker Operational SOP



1.0  OBJECTIVE:
To lay down the operating procedure of Sieve shaker.
2.0  SCOPE:
This shall be applicable to the Sieve shaker of Quality Control Instrument Laboratory.
3.0  RESPONSIBILITY:
3.1  Technical Assistant/ Helper.
3.2  Q.C Analyst.
4.0  ACCOUNTABILITY:
4.1  Manager-Quality Control.
5.0  MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT:
5.1  Sieve shaker.
5.2  Sieves of required number.
5.3  Sample.
6.0  PROCEDURE:
6.1  Operation of the instrument:
6.1.1        Ensure that the working bench and instrument is clean. Follow the SOP
6.1.2        Switch ON the instrument.
6.1.3        Display indicates name of instrument (ELECTROMAGNETIC SIEVE SHAKER EMS-8).
6.1.4        Set up the instrument.
6.1.5        All the sieve diameter and pore size should be as per B.P standards. Received certificate keep in appropriate place.
6.1.6        Set the sieves on the instrument, shaker ensures that the value of the amplitude is set at the lowest.
6.1.7        Set the desired time (0.0 to 99.0minutes) by pressing the ▼▲ time key provided below the TIME display.
6.1.8        Set the desired amplitude (power level 5 to 20) by pressing the ▲▼ power key provided below the POWER LEVEL display.
6.2  Mode of operation:
6.2.1        There are two types of mode:
6.2.1.1  Continuous mode.
6.2.1.2  Intermittent mode.
6.2.2        Control of Continuous operation:
6.2.2.1  Select continuous mode by pressing “CONTINUOUS” key.
6.2.2.2  Start the vibration by pressing the “START” key.
6.2.2.3  The sifter operates during the time and with the power level programmed.
6.2.3        Control of Intermittent operation:
6.2.3.1  To start the sifter in intermittent mode, select continuous mode by pressing “INTERMITTENT” key.
6.2.3.2  Start the vibration by pressing the “START” key.
6.2.3.3  Observe the sifter will start vibrate during the time and power programmed, at interval of 0.5 seconds.
