Potentiometer Cleaning SOP


1.0  OBJECTIVE:
To clearly lay down the procedure for cleaning of Potentiometer.
2.0  SCOPE:
This shall be applicable to the Potentiometer installed in Quality Control Laboratory.
3.0  RESPONSIBILITY:
3.1  Technical Assistant/ Helper.
3.2  Q.C Analyst.
4.0  ACCOUNTABILITY:
4.1  Manager-Quality Control.
5.0  MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT:
5.1  Potentiometer.
5.2  Clean dry cloth.
5.3  Methanol.
6.0  PROCEDURE:
6.1  Before switching ‘ON’ the instrument wipe the instrument with dry cloth.
6.2  On completion of the titration, press ‘OUT’ at the rear side of the Ti stand to drain out the solvent from the titration vessel.
6.3  Press ‘IN’ at the rear side of Ti stand to fill the vessel with methanol.
6.4  Again drain off the methanol.
6.5  Burette also drains off with methanol or purified water.
6.6  After use switch ‘OFF’ the instrument.
6.7  After switch off the instrument, clean it with clean dry cloth and methanol again.
6.8  Affix the “CLEANED” label and fill the “Cleaning Equipment Log Book”.
6.9  Precautions:
6.9.1        Check the power supply to the instrument is switched “OFF” before cleaning.
6.9.2        As the experiment is over clean apparatus again, remove beaker and electrodes wash them properly.
6.9.3        Rinse the electrodes and burette tip before and after each titration with water/ solvent.
6.9.4        Keep instrument in dust free area & keep the surrounding dry.
