Magnetic stirrer Operational SOP



1.0  OBJECTIVE:
To lay down the operating procedure of Magnetic stirrer.
2.0  SCOPE:
This shall be applicable to the Magnetic stirrer of Quality Control Instrument Laboratory.
3.0  RESPONSIBILITY:
3.1  Technical Assistant/ Helper.
3.2  Q.C Analyst.
4.0  ACCOUNTABILITY:
4.1  Manager-Quality Control.
5.0  MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT:
5.1  Magnetic stirrer HI 300N.
6.0  PROCEDURE:
6.1  Ensure that the instrument is clean.
6.2  Put the power plug in the socket and switch it “ON”.
6.3  Place the beaker or flask containing sample in the mid of Magnetic stirrer.
6.4  Put the magnet in the beaker or flask-containing sample.
6.5  Switch “ON” the stirrer and confirm “ON” position by power indicator (LED lights up when the stirrer powered).
6.6  ON/OFF/SPEED  knob, to turn the stirrer ON and OFF, and set the stirring speed (continuously variable up to the maximum).

6.7  Adjust stirrer speed by speed regulator.
6.8  Stirring speed should be control by “knob” to maximum.
6.9  After completion of mixing turn off the apparatus remove the sample and clean the plate with duster.
6.10       Precautions:
6.10.1    Speed of stirrer should be controlled in order to avoid the splash.
