Hot air oven Cleaning SOP



1.0  OBJECTIVE:
To lay down the procedure for cleaning of Hot air oven.
2.0  SCOPE:
This shall be applicable to the Hot air oven of Quality Control Instrument Lab.
3.0  RESPONSIBILITY:
3.1  Technical Assistant/ Helper.
3.2  Q.C Analyst.
4.0  ACCOUNTABILITY:
4.1  Manager-Quality Control.
5.0  MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT:
5.1  Hot air oven.
5.2  Dry lint free cloth (2 pieces).
5.3  Purified water.
6.0  PROCEDURE:
6.1  After completion of the cycle, switch “OFF” the instrument.
6.2  Switch “OFF” the mains.
6.3  Allow to cool the oven.
6.4  Open the door and remove the tubes, flasks, pipette and other glass wares from the equipment.
6.5  Wipe the inner surfaces, walls, top, bottom and trays of hot air oven with dry lint free cloth on daily basis or after every use. So, that there will be no dust particles in the hot air oven.
6.6  Wipe the outer surface and control panel of hot air oven with clean wet lint free cloth soaked in purified water, on weekly basis and fill the weekly cleaning record.
6.7  Cleaning to be done after every use/ daily/ weekly.
6.8  Maintain the records of cleaning according to annexure-1.
6.9  Affix the “CLEANED” label and fill the “Cleaning Equipment Log Book”.
