1.0  OBJECTIVE:
To lay down the calibration procedure of Moisture analyzer for reliable and accurate results.
2.0  SCOPE:
This shall be applicable to the Moisture analyzer of Quality Control Instrument Laboratory.
3.0  RESPONSIBILITY:
3.1  Technical Assistant/ Helper.
3.2  Q.C Analyst.
4.0  ACCOUNTABILITY:
4.1  Manager-Quality Control.
5.0  MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT:
5.1  Moisture analyzer.
6.0  PROCEDURE:
6.1  Switch ON the mains.
6.2  Operate the apparatus according to SOP.
6.3  For temperature calibration:
6.3.1        Set the temperature 60oC by providing temperature key.
6.3.2        Insert the calibrated thermometer of suitable range from top side to near temperature sensor.
6.3.3        After constant temperature achieved, observe the temperature in thermometer and record it in Annexure-1.
6.3.4        Same way set the temperature 105oC & 150oC observe the temperature & record it in Annexure-1.
6.3.5        For accuracy of drying:
6.3.5.1  Place approximately 0.2g of water.
6.3.5.2  Start the instrument & observe the results.
6.3.5.3  Repeat the test two times again & record the observed result in Annexure-1.
6.4  For balance calibration:
6.4.1        Press ‘MENU’ key & select w.cal: yes by ‘U’ or ‘Ãš’ key & enter by ‘←’ key.
6.4.2        After few seconds w.cal: 50.000g will appear.
6.4.3        Open the sample chamber by pressing ‘x’ key & remove the sample pan holder.
6.4.4        Put calibrated 50g weight.
6.4.5        Wait till w.cal 0.000 appear, replace 50g weight.
6.4.6        Collect the printout of weight calibration & record the observation in Annexure-1.
6.4.7        For accuracy of drying:
6.4.7.1  Remove the sample pan holder.
6.4.7.2  Place 1g weight & note the weight.
6.4.7.3  Calculate the difference between the weights in certificate & observe the weight.
6.4.7.4  Repeat the above steps using 2g & 5g weights.
6.4.7.5  Record the observed weight in Annexure-1.
6.4.8        For precision of balance:
6.4.8.1  Place 500mg weight & note it.
6.4.8.2  Repeat the above steps nine times.
6.4.8.3  Record the weight in Annexure-1.
6.4.8.4  Calculate the standard deviation.
6.4.8.5  Calculate the measurement uncertainty using the following equation.

6.5  Record the result on the “Calibration Record”, “Calibration Log Book” & paste the “Calibration Status Sticker” on Moisture analyzer.
6.6  Frequency:
6.6.1        Once in 3 months.
